The Diesel Driven Centrifugal Pump is a self-priming centrifugal pumping set rated at 20 cubic metres per hour at around 2900 RPM against 20 metres total manometric head for a 1 m suction head, with a maximum suction lift of 5 metres. It is the mid-capacity set of the three pumping sets in the Water and Sanitation range.

Used for
Water transfer at a mid-range duty, where hand pumping cannot keep up but a 50 cubic metre set would be oversized for the pipework it feeds. Sizing a pump above the line it discharges into wastes fuel and raises velocity in the pipe rather than delivering more water, which is why flow is matched to the distribution main and not to the size of the source. The limit to check against the site is the maximum suction lift of 5 metres, the vertical distance from the water surface up to the pump; past that the set will not draw at any rated flow. Discharge runs through a Lay-Flat Rapid Fitting Hose, and the delivery line is isolated with a Brass Gate Valve and protected on shutdown by a Cast Iron Check Valve. Output is metered through a Multi or Single Jet Water Meter.
Packing and documentation
Supplied in institutional quantities against a purchase order. State the diameter of the delivery pipework when ordering, so the set is matched to the line it will feed. School Instrument India states on its ordering pages that consignments carry a tracking ID and courier details until delivery, and that installation assistance, training manuals and technical support are provided with equipment supplied to institutions. Mixed water and sanitation lots are quoted through the Tenders page.

Questions buyers ask
What is the capacity of this pumping set?
20 cubic metres per hour at around 2900 RPM, against 20 metres total manometric head for a 1 m suction head.
What is the maximum suction lift?
5 metres, measured from the water surface up to the pump.
Should I order a larger set to be safe?
Not usually. Oversizing above the delivery pipework raises velocity in the pipe and fuel use without delivering proportionally more water, so flow is matched to the line being fed.
Does a bigger set in this range give more lift?
No. All three sets share the same 20 metre total manometric head, so moving up the range buys flow only.
Where is the full mechanical specification?
The 50 m3 per hour set page lists the engine, starting options, mounting and the inlet and outlet diameter range.
What is the smallest set available?
The Centrifugal Pump at 10 cubic metres per hour.
