Moving from plastic to metal
Water networks often combine HDPE on buried runs with galvanized iron at valves and exposed sections. This adaptor is the joint between them: the HDPE side is made up by compression and the threaded side screws into a 4 inch GI socket. On uPVC lines, the Tee Adaptor Female Ends makes a threaded GI connection instead.
