Rubber ring joints on large mains
At large diameters, push-fit rubber ring joints are commonly used in place of solvent cement: the pipe end is chamfered, lubricated and pushed into a socket holding an elastomer ring, which seals and also allows for some movement as the line expands and contracts. There is no cure time before pressure testing.
